Those Summer Nights...

The weather has been so un-seasonably warm in Oregon!

Every Oregonian grew up with the mentality of "summer starts after the 4th of July" because June was ALWAYS cool and cloudy, with just a bit of sun here and there.

Well, this year... we are hitting 80, even 90 degrees everyday! Its madness.

I'm so glad I'm not pregnant this summer.

And I'm so glad Neal talked me into putting A/C in our house. The big cost was hard to swallow... but it has paid off (ten-fold!!) already.

So since we have really been "having a summer" these last few weeks I thought it was worth documenting!

Almost every evening when we get home from work and school, we are in the backyard. Kiddie pool, water play table, sprinkler...

We thought Owen would be scared or hesitant about the water.. but he was all about it! Letting the sprinkler hit him in the face, and getting right down in it!

He also loves the water play table and just splash splash splash... smacks his hand in it.

Look at those chunky thighs and cheeks!!!!!

Our strawberries are growing like crazy this year too, and almost every day Austin and I go out there and pick a bowl! He likes to exclaim over each one...

"Look at dis one Mommy!!! Dis is a BIG ONE!"

"Dis one is still white."

"Ew. Mommy, this one is mushy!!"

Austin and Owen both love having fresh strawberries every night for a snack or part of their dinner.

The most fun we play outside is... "Keep Owen from Eating Bark Dust or Rocks." The darn kid goes straight to both, starts grabbing and shoving.

Owen, just because it fits in your mouth, doesn't make it food!

So he is usually given a cracker or two to occupy him and keep him from sampling the rocks... and he's discovered that crackers are so fun to dip in the water and make all soggy too.

Austin is the "wok" police 'round these parts and likes to give Owen the business for his rock eating attempts:

"Baby Owen!!!!! STOP EATING WOKS!!!!"

"He's trying to eat the woks, Mom!!!!"

grumble grumble... "dang kid don't know nothing.. thinks he can eat woks" 

Oh, the struggle of being a bossy big brother. :-)

I hope this warm summer lasts... its so nice to let the boys run and play out some of their energy, then have a BBQ dinner.... it actually makes the evenings feel relaxing. Jedi mind tricks of Motherhood. Ha.
