I won’t bore you with more exclamations of “wow! Time is
flying by!!” so let’s just get down to the fun facts of being a 7-month-old
baby…
-weighs somewhere between 20 and 21lbs. The last time he was
weighed was about 3 weeks ago and he was 19lb 11oz then.
-wears 9 months tops and 12 month pants
-has started to make consonant sounds and has the cutest
voice I’ve ever heard. He says da-da, ha-ha, ya-ya, tha, ba-ba, bwa, gee and
finally said “ma-ma” yesterday! Its cute, sometimes he talks really loud and
sometimes it’s a whisper.
-says “tha” to toys a lot when he’s playing, so I think he’s
trying to say “this”… yes. I’m convincing myself my baby is that smart!
-LOVES solid food and so far has liked everything he’s
tried. He loves a bit of cinnamon in his oatmeal, and garlic in his veggies.
Pears are still a big favorite, so are sweet potatoes.
-wants to feed himself and we let him… it usually ends in
Henry cleaning the floor and Austin going into the tub.
-has started to eat dry snacks.. Puffs and Mumm-Mumm crackers
-Army crawls on his belly all over the house, and can get to
a crawling position from a sitting position easily. He also can push up into a
bear crawl position.
-has pulled himself up into a standing position a few
times.. the first being over the weekend in the tub!
-refuses to sit most of the time. We try and set him down
and he stiffens his legs and demands to stand. Loves to stand and hold our hands
and walk.
-Is very brave and not afraid of anything. He dives right
into new things and has no hesitation toward people or objects.
-likes to ride in the laundry basket.
-prefers to be held like a football and carted around that
way as opposed to being held like a normal baby.
-loves going on walks and will usually fall asleep in his
stroller with his feet up, totally lounging.
-likes to play “jungle gym” and crawl all over me and Neal.
-needs to be entertained and interacted with. He will demand
your attention if he thinks it’s not on him!
-recovers very quickly when he falls over when sitting or *ahem*
falls off the bed. He’ll cry for a few seconds and then be over it.
-is still impossible to soothe to sleep sometimes and arches
his back and fights you with all his strength. I have to just hang on for dear
life and keep shhh-ing him and bouncing him until he gives up. And pray he
doesn’t gouge your eyeball out. Because somehow he just knows to go straight
for the eyeballs.
-gets wild in the evenings when he’s tired and is just all
over the place and super active…. Grunting and fussing the whole time because
he’s tired but you try and put him to bed, BOOP! Pops awake. So we tried "cry it out" for the very first time Monday night. We put him to bed and he cried for 9 mins and fell hard asleep. He's gone straight to sleep every night since. I don't know if we are the luckiest SOB's on the planet and doing "cry it out" ONCE worked or what. But I'll take it!
| Whatever works to get him to nap!!! |
-takes a few minutes to wake up in the morning and after
naps. He’ll look around with a glazed look in his eyes and be really cuddly.
-sat in his first dugout with Daddy
-sat in his first dugout with Daddy
-has eczema patches on his face, legs and back. We are
trying different lotions on him to help clear this up.
-isn’t very analytical.. he doesn’t study toys… he just
bangs them. He likes noise and rhythms and his piano toy.
-loves shoes, cell phones and remotes. He will do ANYTHING
to try and get the damn remote.
-is one wild, crazy, active tornado of a kid!!!!
