Dear Old Friend

Dear Blogging,
I only have a few moments to pen this note to you, since my Little is miraculously sleeping somewhere other than in my arms...

All I want to say to you, dear Blogging, is that I miss you.

I'm not sure why I thought I'd have "all this time while the baby slept" to blog like crazy while on maternity leave. I must have been still living on the corner of Wishful Thinking Lane and Naive Avenue.

I miss getting my creative juices flowing, of thinking of fun themed posts to share. I miss the click-clack feeling of the keyboard as my fingers fly over it.

Sigh... who would have thought a little hobby would become something that defines me.. something that I feel it's absence and get wistful?

Don't despair too much, dear Blogging... babies get older, and maternity leaves end... and before you know it, I'll be back to writing about my oh-so-not-interesting life and my maybe-I'm-the-only-one-who-really-cares opinions soon enough.

I hope you miss me too. You better. I mean, when someone misses you, missing them back is the only decent thing to do. You can even put on some sappy music and sit brooding... I won't judge.

xoxo-
Jess

Here We Go... Again???

If you are reading this… you probably have guessed that this is a brand new blog.

Well, you guessed right my friends!

No longer will I be blogging over at “The Fabulous Life of a Coach’s Wife”… I’ve had that blog for a year, and it did exactly what I hoped it would do.

It gave me a creative outlet that I very much needed. It gave me a reason to write again, which is my passion. It gave me a hobby to occupy myself while the hubby coached and played baseball many a times. It served as an online journal so I could document our first year of marriage.

I loved it.

But, with the good comes the bad. There were many things that attributed to me deciding not to continue with that blog.

When I started I wanted to be a “big time” blogger.. I wanted hundreds, if not thousands of followers. I wanted to make my blog into almost a business (yes, some girls actually earn a living by blogging!) and I had high hopes..

Well, I learned that to be a blogger of that capacity, it takes TIME. Like quite a bit of time. You have to take the time to connect with other bloggers, try and get your blog noticed, email back dozens of people who commented on your posts…. Think of creative posts that will draw a big audience… collaborate with other bloggers on giveaways, sponserships, link-up posts and parties… you have to take your camera everywhere and document every little thing in order to always have good creative content.

I started to get exhausted and overwhelmed by it, fell behind and felt bad that I didn’t keep up with my followers in the way I should have.

Then of course there is the privacy issue. I always called Neal “The Mr.” (yes! his name is Neal!) because I wanted him to have some anonymity.. I never mentioned much about where we live, or where we work… and then there were the odd emails from people you don’t know (some guys included- creepy) and your Stats tab that showed you that people in Singapore and Istanbul were reading your blog. Ummmmm…. Not sure how I felt about that.

I realized I just wanted to blog to keep a record of what is going on in our lives.. and post a few pics and have my friends and family keep up with what is going on with us.

And now with a baby on the way… I wanted more privacy. I wanted to be able to share our baby’s name, share pictures and stories and not worry about Anonymous reader in Switzerland reading my blog.

So the decision was made to leave my “general” blog and start this new, more private, for-friends-and-family-only blog about our little family. I’ll be sharing posts on Facebook (since I know everyone on my Facebook account) and if you followed along on my old blog, or got posts by emails, you can do the same on this blog. But there will be no diving into the blogging world with this one.. no “I want my name out there and 500 followers!!!!” mentality.

It will be just us, just our lives, our quirks, the way I see the world and my same odd brand of humor.

Welcome, and enjoy the adventures of our lives!
